The Fuss About SEO

If you are a freelance writer like me, you know hundreds of clients come up to you asking you to write SEO-optimised articles, blogs, or product descriptions. They give you a list of keywords and sometimes mention a keyword density to use in the text. Why do they do that? Why is everyone so crazy about SEO? Let's find out. What is SEO (Search Engine Optimization)? Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of getting traffic to your website by listing on a search engines. When you type in something in you're looking for in your search engine like Google or Yahoo, it returns a long list of results. The results are returned on the basis of a particular ranking done by these search engines. Now, how are these ranked? All the web pages, documents, videos and local listings are ranked based on what the search engine considers most relevant to the person conducting the search.  For example: if your keywords are, lets say, 'ghostwriting book's, and ...

Tax on Money Made Online through Surveys in the UK

It is a common misconception that money made online is tax-free. The truth is that you need to pay taxes on all your income, whether it is made in a traditional way or earned online. It is just that at most times the money you make online is less than the 'Personal Allowance'( a small amount earned in a year on which you do not have to pay tax). In this article I'll clear this misconception and provide links to help you gain a deeper insight on the subject. Paying Taxes on Money Made Online Defining Tax Investorwords define the word 'tax' as: “ A fee charged (levied) by a government on a product , income , or activity. ” [ 1] Who has to Pay Tax in the UK? The HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) website states the criteria for paying taxes in a simple manner: “ If you work in the UK, you will usually have to pay Income Tax and National Insurance on your wages. How much you pay - and how you pay - depends on how much you earn, and wheth...

ONLINE SHOPPING: IT IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK

Love doing your shopping online? Read this before you make your next purchase. The Good Things About Online Shopping I do almost 80-90% of my shopping online especially ever since I have had kids. Why? That is because it is so much easier (and often cheaper) to buy while you are sitting in front of your laptop or using your phone to make a purchase than to drive to the shops with your kids and shop around. Just a click or two and you're done! On the other hand, when you go to the shops you end up spending and buying twice more than what you actually wanted. And of course, if you have kids with you, you are unnecessarily adding more toys and junk food to keep them quiet and let you shop around in peace. It obviously takes much longer too. And the Bad...  So if you're someone like me who loves to do most (if not all) of her shopping online either for the sake of convenience, variety or cost-effectiveness, you'll be annoyed to know that many of your buying decisions...

Elance: My Favourite Freelancing Platform

I've been working on Elance for about 1.5 years now and I've to say, it's awesome! Unlike other freelancing platforms like Odesk, you don't get 'peanuts' for your hard work. Although there are clients who offer a next-to-nothing budget for you to work with (and surprisingly enough freelancers willingly want to work with them), you'll find here plenty of clients who have a fairly good budget (for the amount of work they ask for) to work with. Bidding on jobs is however the crucial bit. How to convince your employer that you are fit for the offered position / job? Beside your qualifications and experience, you need to play with powerful words to entice your clients to hire you. Positive feedbacks from your previous clients (this could be a bit of problem for newbies) and a good reputation on Elance really helps. A fair bid (sometimes the lowest wins but most of the time clients are willing to pay extra for quality) that's within the client's budget ...

How to Write a Killer Article that Catches Immediate Attention?

Well, that's what this blog about: writing and making money out of it. If you can write and have a good imagination, it shouldn't be hard at all. I'll just explain how you can write something that catches attention immediately. I've tried to make it as simple as possible. For me, good writing is the art of putting down your thoughts boggling your mind in to words, one after the other, such that they connect together and indulge your readers in them when they begin reading them. “ This is how you do it: you sit down at the keyboard and you put one word after another until it’s done. It's that easy, and that hard.” ― Neil Gaiman Why Write when You can Say it? There are people from all around the world writing; some write to quench their own thirst to write, some for the sake of money and the rest for both reasons. You’ll be surprised to know how much writing is in demand today. People need words to communicate, and written words are needed when y...

MAKING MONEY ONLINE: Build Your Own Website or Blog

Making money online doesn't have to be complicated. You can do it without any experience, starting now. How, you ask? Well, there are lots of ways but this blog post is all about doing it through your own blog or website. What is a Website? Do I really need to tell you? Haven't we?  While many of us are already aware of the term,  I'm sure there is a bunch of people there who wish to know what a website is before they start making money out of it. So here we go. A website is a collection of different web pages brought together to serve a common purpose. It may contain text, audio, video, graphics, information or may be used to sell certain items. As an example, you can see Amazon is a website. Ebay is another one. All websites have a homepage and several other pages with items or services to sell, help, contact pages and more. They are all combined to give this website its full form a...

Writing on Triond

I’ve been a part of Triond for over three years now and think it’s an excellent platform to make money (or at least get started) if you’ve got some good (well not necessarily good) writing skills or wish to share your own pictures, videos or audios. The best part of being on Triond is there are no boundaries as to how much you have to do or what you have to do. You could do that at your own time and pace.  I surely love to write but as a parent can’t spare much time for it. So I just go on writing whenever I can and when I feel like doing it and on which ever topic I like to. That’s called ‘freedom’ and ‘satisfaction’. It keeps me happy:) In any other profession, you have to do just one thing over and over everyday. At one point of life you want to do something new and different that satisfies your needs. For me, it was Triond that gave me that ‘break’ if you like. I’ve been happy posting my articles here on health and fitness, gardening, food and nutrition, internet, techno...

The Story of a Content Freelance Writer ☺️

It often happens in life that you think of doing something but end up doing completely the opposite. Does it sound like you? Yes? Read on to find out my story. While a lot of people may regret not being able to do what they always wanted, I don't. I did at one point, but not anymore. Your perceptions, aims and goals in life change with time, and they did for me too. I had always wanted to become an engineer and my parents knew that right from the time I was a little girl. I would often break open my toys to have a closer look inside and study its mechanism or help my Dad mend little things around the house. As I grew up, I was more than determined to study engineering and so I did! I spent some of the most difficult four years of my life going to one of the best engineering universities and ended up becoming an Electronics Engineer . Well, not quite. I managed to get a bachelor's degree in engineering. I did what I wanted to and it was like a dream come true. A ha...
