Writing Your Own Book: Getting Started

Hello all! Recently many people have come across asking me how I actually get about writing a book or an eBook. Some of the questions that now I'm been tired of answering  are:  Can anyone do it or are there any special skills required?  Is the process simple or complicated?  How do they get published? That's why I've decided to dedicate my next series of blog posts to all those curious minds out there who wish to write their own book and get it published for others to read their ideas. I hope to make the process sound as simple as possible. In this first post about writing your own book, I'll start off with simple tips and tricks to let you get started. To answer the question " Can anyone do it?", I'd say, "No, not really. But many can". If we could all write, a ghostwriter like myself would not have existed in the first place. And there would be no other way to make money than just by writing. Think if we were all writers, wh...

How Much Does a Ghostwriter Earn?

People often ask me how much I with this little business of ghostwriting . Wrong question-I know! But, I think it needs to be answered in some way or the other, just to help the budding freelance writers to know what to expect and to create realistic goals while they are starting their careers as ghostwriters. This is also to help those who are thinking of hiring a ghostwriter for their next book. Some people may actually be trying to judge how strong you are financially or rate your success in life by finding out how much you make on a monthly or annual basis by asking such questions. Who cares though? We really can't change the way people think. Can we? No! All we can do is stay calm and carry on. To be completely honest with you, there is not an exact figure of how much I make in a year through my ghostwriting business at Ghostwriters' World . Why? Because it is just like any other business. There are ups and downs. Profits and even losses. Happy customers and dissat...

Making Ghostwriting Your Career

Enough information about blogs, websites, search engines, SEO and all those trending topics talking about how you can establish your online presence! Let's get back to the topic of 'ghostwriting', something this blog is originally about. Now, before I go any further, I just want to make sure you know what ghostwriting is. It may sound funny but many people still think it's writing about ghosts, witches and those scary things.  While ghostwriting literally means the same, the main idea behind ghostwriting is that you write on someone else's behalf. So basically, if you know a well-known author out there, he probably wasn't the mastermind behind his books. It was a ghostwriter! Does that sound a bit insane or may be unfair to you? You write something and someone else gets the credit for it....Well to some extent it is, but I still believe  establishing  your career as a ghostwriter  is a wonderful idea. Or at least  that's  w...

What Sells Well: Part 2

This post is more sort of a continuation of my previous blog post "What Sells Well?" In case you've not read it, here is the link: http://ghostwritersworld.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/what-sells-well.html  In the previous post, I said you can sell almost anything if you provide a good quality as well as a unique product or service at a competitive price. You need to find a USP, that is your Unique Selling Point to let yourself stand out and look different from others. Now to understand the whole concept of selling anything well, I'll try to give you my own example. On Fiverr, (one of the freelancing platforms I work on) I have quite a few different writing gigs. Out of all those, my best selling gig is about writing product descriptions: http://fiverr.com/users/intellect001/manage_gigs/write-a-short-description-about-new-aap-game-website-or-any-products-you-are-thinking-of-selling Now, it's not that I'm the only one on Fiverr writing product descriptions...

Build a Blog Site

We've talked about earning money by having your own blog or website earlier. Haven't we? Now let's find out more about your blog here and of course find out as to why I've one of own;) What is a Blog? A blog is a website where the owner or group of owners or operator posts opinions, information and items of interest on a regular basis. A blog is often part of a personal or company’s website (but mine isn't and I'll tell you why in a bit). It is a pull-down menu tab on their main website. Blog writers use their blog to share opinions, brag about company or personal successes and/or share information that might be useful to their customers or visitors. Blog entries should celebrate employee or client successes. It may also advertise upcoming events or new products. Now as to why my blog isn't a part of another website. Well, this blog of mine is not meant to make profits. It's purely for sharing useful information, telling others about way...

The Need to Have Your Own Website...

If you are in an e-business—or any business for that matter—then it has become impossible to conduct your business without a website. Even if you are the original Neanderthal of the Internet world, you must have a website and someone who knows how to design and maintain it.  What Your Website Does? Using your website, potential customers: visit your virtual store; find out about your bricks-and-mortar business location; become aware about your products/services; learn about you and your company; read about others' experiences or opinions with regards to your company; purchase goods or services from you (if you're very lucky;)). And you can: get brand recognition for your product or service; begin to build a relationship with visitors and hope to turn them into clients; buy or sell products/services; tell your clients about new products; showcase your products and services; answer customer questions; sha...

I Don't Have Enough Time....

"I don’t  have enough time" or "I don't get the time to...."   How many times a day do we say this phrase to others or hear the same from them? Have you ever wondered why? Why do we not have time? Why have our lives all of a sudden become so busy that we cannot spare time for anything or anyone? Going back in the era of which our grannies speak of, life was a lot tougher. Everything had to be done manually. There were no dishwashers, washing machines, juicers or blenders. People used to do all these jobs manually. Can you imagine doing all that today? Certainly not! At least, I can't. And why is that? Because..........we don’t have time! But then how come when at that time people had such tough lives, they still managed to find time to go and visit their friends and relatives and were very sociable too? They had time to look after their houses and children and they had spare time for parents, grand parents and grand children too. Today, we live in t...

Tax on Money Made Online through Surveys in the UK

It is a common misconception that money made online is tax-free. The truth is that you need to pay taxes on all your income, whether it is made in a traditional way or earned online. It is just that at most times the money you make online is less than the 'Personal Allowance'( a small amount earned in a year on which you do not have to pay tax). In this article I'll clear this misconception and provide links to help you gain a deeper insight on the subject. Paying Taxes on Money Made Online Defining Tax Investorwords define the word 'tax' as: “ A fee charged (levied) by a government on a product , income , or activity. ” [ 1] Who has to Pay Tax in the UK? The HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) website states the criteria for paying taxes in a simple manner: “ If you work in the UK, you will usually have to pay Income Tax and National Insurance on your wages. How much you pay - and how you pay - depends on how much you earn, and wheth...

ONLINE SHOPPING: IT IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK

Love doing your shopping online? Read this before you make your next purchase. The Good Things About Online Shopping I do almost 80-90% of my shopping online especially ever since I have had kids. Why? That is because it is so much easier (and often cheaper) to buy while you are sitting in front of your laptop or using your phone to make a purchase than to drive to the shops with your kids and shop around. Just a click or two and you're done! On the other hand, when you go to the shops you end up spending and buying twice more than what you actually wanted. And of course, if you have kids with you, you are unnecessarily adding more toys and junk food to keep them quiet and let you shop around in peace. It obviously takes much longer too. And the Bad...  So if you're someone like me who loves to do most (if not all) of her shopping online either for the sake of convenience, variety or cost-effectiveness, you'll be annoyed to know that many of your buying decisions...

How to Start Selling Crafts from the Comfort of Your Home

Okay, I've been talking about so many different ways of making money online here. But haven't I missed something really important? Of course, making money by selling your goods. Now commercially available goods are what everybody is selling out there on the Internet. What you need is something different, something creative and innovative. How about some handmade crafts reflecting your own unique personality? Why not start your own crafts business sitting at home? I'll be honest. I'm not at all creative. I do a bit of knitting sometimes, but that's about all. To write this down , however, I've conducted some thorough research to get the right idea across. No wonder, crafts are popular selling items in the market. They are unique in their own way and people want different things for a change or just to look or feel different. Crafts may be made up by an individual or a small group of people together to create something out of nothing. If you to can think an...

How to Write a Killer Article that Catches Immediate Attention?

Well, that's what this blog about: writing and making money out of it. If you can write and have a good imagination, it shouldn't be hard at all. I'll just explain how you can write something that catches attention immediately. I've tried to make it as simple as possible. For me, good writing is the art of putting down your thoughts boggling your mind in to words, one after the other, such that they connect together and indulge your readers in them when they begin reading them. “ This is how you do it: you sit down at the keyboard and you put one word after another until it’s done. It's that easy, and that hard.” ― Neil Gaiman Why Write when You can Say it? There are people from all around the world writing; some write to quench their own thirst to write, some for the sake of money and the rest for both reasons. You’ll be surprised to know how much writing is in demand today. People need words to communicate, and written words are needed when y...

Making Money Online: Surveys

Another great and one of the easiest ways to earn money online without any qualifications is by filling surveys online. It doesn't pay much but if you take plenty of these surveys, you can earn some extra cash and in some cases, get free samples too. Here's a simple guide to taking surveys online and start earning money immediately, but as always, I'll start with the basics. What are Online Surveys? A number of companies such as Global Test Market, Opinion World, Opinion Outpost, Survey head, Populus Live, Toluna and so many more are there online which offer to register to their websites for free. Once you’ve done that, you are sent invitations to survey opportunities every now and then. These are sent out by big and small companies to get feedback on their products and gather stats about people's choices. Who Can Fill in these Surveys? Anyone can! That's the beauty of it! You do not need any special qualifications or experience to fill out these sur...
