What Sells Well: Part 2

This post is more sort of a continuation of my previous blog post "What Sells Well?" In case you've not read it, here is the link:

http://ghostwritersworld.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/what-sells-well.html

In the previous post, I said you can sell almost anything if you provide a good quality as well as a unique product or service at a competitive price.

You need to find a USP, that is your Unique Selling Point to let yourself stand out and look different from others. Now to understand the whole concept of selling anything well, I'll try to give you my own example. On Fiverr, (one of the freelancing platforms I work on) I have quite a few different writing gigs. Out of all those, my best selling gig is about writing product descriptions:

Now, it's not that I'm the only one on Fiverr writing product descriptions. There are hundreds, of other people doing it, but when you search for 'product descriptions' on Fiverr, my gig appears somewhere on the top (ranks fifth). That's one reason (SEO or search engine optimisation) why a lot of clients come to me asking me to write enticing descriptions for their product or service. The other reason is most people on Fiverr write, edit or rewrite articles on blogs. Very few do descriptions. They are trickier and more difficult to write as compared to blogs. That's because you always can't find relevant material about it on the web whereas when you write an artile or blog post, everything is there, you just have to repharse it. Product descriptions have to be tailored or cared according to the type of product you're writing about. Each one is different and is a challenge to write about. You need captivating, catchy and enticing words to describe the product so as to pursue potential customers to buy it from just reading it's description. This sort of writing requires creativity and hence it's unique. So in essence, my gig sells well because:

1.it is somewhat unique,
2. I offer great customer service (maintain good communication with the clients so as to know what exactly they require, offer timely delivery, free words, free revisions if required etc.),
3. fortunately I have managed to receive some great feedbacks from my clients,
4. it is SEO-optimised and lastly,
5. I offer a great deal of work for only a fiver(competitive pricing).

So you see now what factors help you decide what sells well....

6 of the Most Commonly Asked FAQs About Ghostwriting: Is it Actually Ethical to Ghostwrite?

When people talk to you, they can be insensitive and brutal at times. People ask me, "What do you do?" "I am a ghostwriter . I write books for my clients. " "And what does that exactly mean?" they ask naively. "Do you write about ghosts and haunted places?" " Actually, I write for others. I  never get the credit for what I write." "Oh, that's weird. Is that actually a job? I'd never do that. What's the point of working so hard when you never get the credit for it?" they say bluntly. Heartbroken, I still try to keep that smile on my face. I lift my spirits up to explain how helping others brings the element of satisfaction to me. Of course, ghostwriting pays well too, but this is what I do because I enjoy ghostwriting more than writing in my own style does. I actually wrote an entire post on what's in it for me as a ghostwriter when I am working behind the scenes. The post explains my point of ...
