I've made a list of some very simple, yet useful tips here to get your own product descriptions written without having to pay a content writer to do it for you:
- Focus on your product alone. Don't talk about other products.
- Jot down all relevant information about the product. Don't miss out on anything.
- Make a list of all the useful features separately. Qualities like affordable, long-lasting, unique are always good. People are looking for them!
- Use keywords for SEO. But don't do any keyword stuffing
- Think about the target audience. Write as if you're talking to them. Entice them.
- Keep it simple and short. People don't have time to read too much, but do that without missing out on any useful information. 100-300 words is a good length, but it can vary depending on what your product is and where you want to post it.
- Use loads of adjectives and catchy phrases. Remember you want to convince the client to buy your product.
- Answer all questions about the product potential client might want to know, such as the material of the product if it's a piece of clothing or the right measurements etc.. If you leave anything important unanswered, the client might find it easier to leave the page than to ask you a question and then wait until you respond.
- Use headings and bullet points to make it simple for the buyers to read about the product. They should know at one glance only where they'll find the information that they're seeking.
- Combine all the information and unique features.
- Read it once. Then read it again aloud. Does it feel like you're talking to the clients in a nice friendly tone? Is the information useful for them to make a purchase decision? Is it powerful enough to convince them to buy or at least consider buying? If not, try again.
- End with a strong call to action.
